MORE ABOUT BRODIE MAHER
I originally built the car at my rental in the backyard without hard stand. It’s developed a lot over the years, but all the mechanical work has been completed by myself. Tuner Brad Sherriff @Racetech. Wiring by Racewire Tasmania. Wrap by JT designs

If you know my car, you know it’s an animal and it’s easy to assume it’s always been like that and/or that it was given to me. I first started racing karts when I was 11 and quickly showed promise, I raced in Aussie Racing Cars, Sports GT and Formula 3 all under the age 18. Even though I was fast, I struggled to break though like many and didn’t have the budget to go any further. I turned to drifting because it seemed like something I would be able to achieve, you don’t necessarily need the best car, the best team and most of the time you can do the work yourself, plus I was a sponsored MTB freestyle rider at the time so it always excited me from the showman point of view. When I first built the S13 it took me 2 years, it was at my rental house and we didn’t even have hardstand or a carport, but I was so keen to get out there that I pushed through even on a shoestring budget. You see the car now and it’s hard to believe it come from such humble beginnings, but as my driving pushed, I pushed my skills, taught myself how to weld, build engines, FRP, understand suspension geometry and develop the car. I’ve had a lot of people help me, particularly Brad Sherriff who shared a lot of knowledge and helped my get the Ex McA Hammerhead Billet engine initially, which really bought this car to life. I’ve swapped, hustled, traded and basically sold my soul to end up with what I have, but I’m really proud of it. In many ways this car is a reflection of me. It’s a beast of a car and I’m Excited to showcase it in NZ.
